Introducing the Hand Stamped Leather Key Chain

I love using my letter stamp set, and I was excited to make a product that highlights the lovely effect of the hand stamped letters. To make this key chain, I started with a cut out of a key fob.

To use the stamps, I first wet the leather and then waited for it to return to normal color. It is ready to stamp when it is normal color, but still cool to the touch. That gives the leather the perfect consistency to be stamped!
I used the initials “BBJ” for Bags by jo.

After stamping the natural leather, I used my new mocha brown leather dye to change the color to a nice dark rich brown. I put a few coats of leather sheen on it, and then buffed it with a soft cloth to give it a nice shiny finish.

Once I finished the dyeing process, I used some gum tragacanth to seal the edges and then burnished them using friction.
I then riveted the ring into place, using my new poundo board which I love! You can tell by all the holes that I have already used it many times.

Ta-da! The finished product. By popular demand, I am putting this in my shop. Any initials can be added!

More leather adventures to come.
Love,
Jo
This would be cool if you market that you can customize someones name or a phrase with your stamp set on the key chain
